January 2008 Archives
According to the TM, Malaysia leading Internet Service Provider, TM will be blocking all SMTP traffic or port 25 for all out going emails from dynamic IP addresses.
This is due to the spamming activities by a small group of users, many anti-spam organizations have blacklisted a large number of IP addresses from TM's network.
As a result, many TMNet users unable to send emails from their private mail server to companies who might using the database from the anti-spam organizations.
Effective 15th January 2008, TM will block SMTP traffic or Port 25 for all out going emails from dynamic IP addresses. Only outbound SMTP traffic from smtp.streamyx.com and smtp.tm.net.my will be allowed.
For TMNet users who have their own email server, they will not be able to send emails from now on. To solve the problem, TM is providing an open relay server for these users who use dynamic IP addresses: smtp-proxy.tm.net.my

I face an issue of sending email using Outlook via smtp.streamyx.com while connecting to Digi EDGE network. I have tested around and able to solve it for time being.
The trick is hange your SMTP server to roam.tm.net.my and still check on Outgoing mail needs authentication. I tested the connection, it is able to connect to SMTP server but test mail has failed. When I try to send out an email, it still able to get through. So, it solve my problem and should work until TM make some stupid changes.
Wishing everyoe a new year blessed with joy, love, wealth and good health.
